{"id":28314,"date":"2023-04-11T13:41:46","date_gmt":"2023-04-11T13:41:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blushernext.com\/?p=28314"},"modified":"2023-04-12T14:15:02","modified_gmt":"2023-04-12T14:15:02","slug":"dreams-support-is-ending-but-media-molecule-is-working-on-new-game","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blushernext.com\/index.php\/2023\/04\/11\/dreams-support-is-ending-but-media-molecule-is-working-on-new-game\/","title":{"rendered":"Dreams support is ending but Media Molecule is working on new game"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure class=\" img-container shareable-item wp-caption\" style=\"max-width:540px\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" class=\"wp-image-12263938 lazyload\" width=\"1280\" height=\"720\" alt=\"Dreams key art\" data-src=\"http:\/\/blushernext.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/dreams-key-art-2013.jpg\"><\/div><figcaption>Dreams &#8211; bad news to wake up to (pic: Sony)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"\">PS4 game creation tool Dreams is ending live support this September, but the creators of LittleBigPlanet are working on something new.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">It\u2019s very hard to believe that Sony ever had any faith in <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2020\/02\/19\/dreams-review-interview-video-game-construction-kit-12263918\/\">Dreams<\/a>, the video game construction kit that allows you to create your own <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/games-news\/?ico=auto_link_entertainment_P2_LNK1\">games<\/a> and virtual experiences with a minimum of technical known-how.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">It worked very well but Sony never marketed it, never released a dedicated <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/playstation-5\/?ico=auto_link_entertainment_P3_LNK1\">PlayStation 5<\/a> version, and, most bafflingly, never allowed people that don\u2019t own the game to play people\u2019s creations as their own separate downloads &#8211; so that they might see how good they are.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">That means most people aren\u2019t even aware Dreams exists and so it\u2019s no surprise to find out that developer Media Molecule is winding down support, although it will continue to be available for purchase after September.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Dreams will migrate to a new server next month, with a new cloud storage limit of 5GB for anything players make. Although that will be on top of any current creations they might have stored.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Live support will end on September 1, meaning no more updates or patches and no more promotions, like the various community award events that Media Molecule has previously organised.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u2018Dreams has been a special project for Media Molecule and helping this burgeoning community of game developers, tinkerers, creatives, collaborators and dreamers grow and express themselves remains one of the best things we&#8217;ve ever done,\u2019 reads the official <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.indreams.me\/en\/whats-happening\/news\/dreams-support-update\">blog announcement<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u2018Thank you for being part of it with us &#8211;
